Christmas isn’t about the gifts — it’s about the people you spend it with. You probably didn’t need us to tell you that, but the protagonists in Gift of the Magi 2.0 could probably use a reminder. Marietta’s New Theatre in the Square presents this adaptation of O. Henry’s timeless holiday fable by N. Emil Thomas for the 2nd year in a row. Jim, an Atlanta streetcar driver struggling to make ends meet during the Atlanta Transit Strike of 1950, goes to great lengths to buy a Christmas gift for his wife Della, unaware that Della is going to similar lengths to afford a gift for him. This story of family, sacrifice and the blessings we take for granted is coming to Marietta’s New Theatre in the Square to show that love is the greatest gift of all. This has become the theatre classic holiday season show. Winning several awards, we are very proud of the work Emil has done with this production.
